Show Site Work Rules

Union Information

To assist you in planning your participation in your show, we are certain you will appreciate knowing in advance that union labor will be required for certain aspects of your exhibit handling.

Carpenters

Members of this union claim jurisdiction over work involved with unpacking, erecting and dismantling all pre-fabricated or build up displays, including the laying of carpet or floor tile which comes in the exhibit (no rental) except where Cleveland Convention Center work rules all the exhibitor to do their own set-up.

Decorators

Members of this union also claim jurisdiction over the "Soft Goods" which include the setting of pipe and drapes, bunting, and skirting. The hanging of foamcore and showcard signs and vinyl banners are performed by decorators. Exhibitors may hang signs or banners from pipe and drape or exhibit, and set signs within their own booth space only.

Teamsters

Members of this union claim jurisdiction over the unloading and reloading of all exhibitor freight. They also perform all rigging work. Exhibitors are permitted to hand carry items. Exhibitors may not use any mechanical freight moving equipment other than a 2-wheeled dolly. Exhibitors may roll-in their own equipment if it weighs less than 100 lbs. and has built-in wheels.

Helpful Hints

  • Exhibitors are allowed to do the technical work on their machines such as fine line balancing, programming and cleaning.
  • If you encounter any difficulty with any laborer, or if you are not satisfied with the work performed, please bring this to the attention of . Please refrain from voicing complaints directly to craft personnel.
  • The person in charge of your exhibit should carefully inspect and sign all work order forms. If there are any questions about billing, bring the questions to and discuss it with the person in charge.

Gratuities

Our work rules prohibit the SOLICITATION OR ACCEPTANCE of tips in cash, product or gifts in kind by any employee (union or non-union). Our employees are paid appropriate wages denoting professional status, therefore tipping of any kind is not allowed.

Work Zone

Customer acknowledges that the show site and surrounding areas are active work zones. Customer, its agents, employees and representatives are present at their own risk.
